Brigadier Imtiaz be hanged in public as demanded by CPP.

On the 32nd death anniversary of Shaheed Nazeer Abbasi, the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) demanded suo moto action from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan for the reopening of Shaheed Nazeer Abbasi murder case.

Justice demands that Brigadier Imtiaz be hanged in public. This was categorically stated by Central Chairman of CPP, Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik while addressing the party workers on the 32nd death anniversary of Shaheed Abbasi.

He said that Shaheed Abbasi was true communist and revolutionary and sacrificed his life for Socialist Revolution in Pakistan. Long Live Nazeer Abbasi is now the slogan of Communists for all the times.

CPP also demanded from the PPP Government and its allies ANP to immediately register an FIR against Brigadier Imtiaz, who was responsible for killing of our young, energetic and activist leader of our Party. Brigadier Imtiaz was the main accused in Abbasi’s murder and it was extra judicial killing.

Engineer Jameel revealed that an investigation was initiated against Brigadier Imtiaz in the tenure of Benazir Bhutto’s government but when the government was toppled the probe was also put on the back burner.

Widow of Nazir Abbasi, Hamida Ghangro also claimed that Brigadier Imtiaz had killed her husband in custody. She also alleged that government officials had accepted that Nazir Abbasi was killed during custody.

‘Our Party has all the documentary proofs,’ the CPP Chairman Engineer Jameel maintained and said, demanding the government should immediately arrest and try Brigadier Imtiaz before a court of law.

He told the party workers that Nazir Abbasi was the most courageous and bold Sindhi student leaders who were killed by Zia-ul Haq’s brutal Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Then colonel Imtiaz (and later Brigadier) tortured him and his cruel ISI subordinates the likes of who continue to hunt the Baluchis even today.

During the months of July and August, many in Sindh are celebrating sacrifice of Shaheed Nazir Abbasi as he was last arrested on July 30, 1980 by spy agency, who tortured him, until he died on August 9, 1980.

CPP Chairman Engineer Jameel said Abbasi had fought against dictatorial regime of Ziaul Haq and had been killed in a torture cell of dictators for not compromising on his ideological commitments. He said Abbasi preferred to sacrifice his life rather than surrendering before the enemy of democracy, democratic forces, country and the helpless people of country.

CPP Chairman said that the dictator did not like ‘No’ while Abbasi did not accept their wishes and ‘Yes’ and stood by his stand till death. He was true communist and revolutionary and sacrificed his life for Socialist Revolution in Pakistan. Long Live Nazeer Abbasi is now the slogan of Communists for all the times. This was vehemently stressed by Engineer Jameel while concluding his address to party workers.
