Chairman CPP, Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik announces withdrawal from the election contest of PP-15

Being busy in Musharraf High Treason case in Supreme Court, he did not get time for election campaign

Engineer Jameel requested his party member to vote for progressive and secular parties

Chairman Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik and party candidate from PP-15, Attock-I have announced his retirement from the election of PP-15, Attock-I.

He informed the Returning Officer Attock in writing as required vide sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Representation of the People Act, 1976 for his retirement from PP-15, Attock-I.

Engineer Jameel informed Returning Officer Attock that he is retiring from the election as he did not get any time for his election campaign and direct contact with the people of his constituency because of the reason that in September, 2009 the CPP filed a Constitutional Petition on Article 6 for Prosecuting General Pervez Musharaf and others under High Treason (Punishment) Act, 1973 and which hearing has now been started regularly by the Full Bench headed by Mr. Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja since April 8, 2013 alongwith others identical petitions and being petitioner-in-person, he has to daily attend and to participate in the proceedings of the Supreme Court.

Engineer Jameel requested that the CPP members and sympathizers to vote any candidates of his choice from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Awami Workers Party (AWP), Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto) and Muthaida Quami Movement (MQM) in case no candidates of CPP are contesting from that constituency but he or she must vote on 11th of May, 2013.

He clarified that in spite of our political differences with the above parties but as and when our party is against the rightist and religious parties and we consider PPP, ANP, AWP, PPP (SB) and MQM as secular, progressive, liberal and left leaning parties in politics, so in that sense, they are our natural allies in this context. Election symbol of CPP is ‘SICKLE’.
